Hi there everyone. Yes I am still here and interested in keeping this blog. So please let me apologize for not posting much of anything last year.
What I did last year was very important though. I work really hard on my physical health and diet. I was at physical therapy two to three times a week. When I wasn’t at physical therapy I was at the gym doing my exercises there. This has significant helped me with my walking and stability issues, but, as you can image, it took a lot of time.
The purpose of all that work was to rebuild muscles that had atrophied during the years when my health due to my CVID was poor. I wasn’t exercising correctly then so everything went weak. I also had several abdominal surgeries and that also left a bunch of weak muscles that weren’t doing their job when it came to standing, walking and more. So, the combination of my nerve damage in my low back, multiple surgeries, and also chronic infections left me is a sad shape physically. It has been a lot of work to get back to where I am now.

I also painted a lot last year. As a child I dreamed of being a famous artist one day. I was even an art major in college in my first year or so. But then life came along and reality hit and finally, I settled and graduated with a degree in geology- which seems pretty far from art. However, I loved doing CAD work for the geology department at State of California, Department of Water Resources. But my main goal has always been to have my own art show in a gallery.
Last year I made headway on the gallery showing front. It was a few baby steps, but that’s okay. I entered a few paintings into the local county fair and actually won a ribbon. Then I sold a few paintings. Wow. I was so happy. I continued to paint throughout the year. I finished 13 acrylic paintings I think, and a few other projects as well.
My amazing news is how healthy I was in 2016. I actually went nine months without an infection!!!! I relate this to getting my Xolair injections twice a month. I have noticed that I have fewer infections when I get my Xolair regularly. In order to do that, I have had to play games with insurance companies and such to get everything covered so that I can afford to get them as frequently as my doctor recommends.
So here we are in 2017! I don’t know what this year will bring. I am nervous of changes in the ACA that President Elect Trump might do, and his ideas of cutting Medicare and Social Security. I will update you all if I hear of any related significant issues.
So Zebras, lets go and have another great year… and hopefully with many more blogs posted. The life of a zebra may not be easy, but that’s why we are all ZEBRA STRONG. Hugs to all in my dazzle. <3
